Motorola Introduces Edge 50 Ultra Smartphone

Motorola introduced its new flagship device called Moto Edge 50 Ultra.

This is a global model, which in China may well come out under a different name. In Europe, it will go on sale in the coming weeks at a price of 1,000 euros.

The Edge 50 Ultra is powered by a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor (one Cortex-X4 core at 3.0 GHz, four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.8 GHz, three Cortex-A520 cores at 2.0 GHz and a graphics core Adreno 735). It is significantly more powerful than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 offered in the Edge 50 Pro. The Ultra version also offers 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB or 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra features a 6.7-inch P-OLED display with curved edges, 2712 x 1220 pixel resolution, 144Hz refresh rate and up to 360Hz touch sampling rate in gaming mode. The peak brightness of the screen is 2500 cd/m2. The display supports 10-bit color depth and HDR10+ content.

The battery capacity is 4500 mAh, there is support for 125-watt charging and 50-watt wireless charging. Other highlights include water resistance (IP68), Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, UWB support, a USB-C 3.2 port with DisplayPort 1.4 support, and Peach Fuzz, which was chosen as Pantone’s Color of the Year 2024.

The main camera has a resolution of 50 megapixels and is based on a 1/3-inch optical sensor. There is also an ultra-wide-angle camera with the same resolution and a 64-megapixel periscope camera for close-up shots.

Artificial intelligence technologies help in the operation of cameras. AI automatically adjusts shutter speed and stabilization level based on shooting conditions. In addition, it controls autofocus performance. The new Photo Enhancement Engine optimizes images, increasing the detail of light and dark areas, and is responsible for image clarity, color and bokeh effect.
