Doctors In London Use Apple Vision Pro For The First Time

Doctors from London’s Cromwell Hospital performed the first surgical operation using the Apple Vision Pro augmented reality headset. The headset was used during a spinal procedure.

Only the nurse assistant was wearing a helmet. What kind of software and for what tasks she used is not specified. Hospital representatives only noted that special software helped monitor the progress of the operation and select the necessary tools.

The device was provided by eXeX, a company specializing in technical platforms for hospitals using AI and spatial computing. The surgeons involved, Fady Sedra and Syed Aftab, did not use Apple Vision Pro but praised its capabilities.

“Used through our collaboration with eXeX, the Apple Vision Pro device has made a significant difference in patient care. The software works perfectly and increases the efficiency of specialists in complex spine treatment. I am honored to be part of the first team in the UK and Europe to use this software in surgery. I look forward to the development of the technology and its application in UK hospitals,” commented Saeed Aftab.

This medical breakthrough could lead to more efficient treatment of patients and a reduced risk of errors during operations.
