Microsoft To Release The First PCs With AI

Microsoft is preparing to update its line of branded Surface laptops and tablets. The devices will be equipped with next-generation neural processors that support artificial intelligence (AI) functions, said Zack Bowden, editor-in-chief of Windows Central, citing sources.

This year the company did not release new Surface Pro or Surface Laptop in the main series, but next year it is preparing to radically update the line – tablets and laptops will receive an improved design, new features and will offer a choice between 14th generation Intel chips and Qualcomm X Series. In both cases, they will be equipped with AI accelerators or NPU (Neural Processing Unit).

Laptops and tablets powered by Qualcomm Arm chips are sold by Microsoft under the codename CADMUS – they are designed specifically for the upcoming version of Windows, codenamed Hudson Valley, and support new AI features integrated into Windows 2024. Microsoft emphasizes that CADMUS computers are capable of competing on equal terms with machines based on Apple Silicon chips, offering the same battery life, performance and security.

Microsoft previously released the AI-powered Copilot app for Android. It allows you to work with AI without using the proprietary Bing search engine and is very similar in functionality to Chat GPT.
