X Introduces Paid Registration On The Platform

Social network X (formerly Twitter) announced the start of testing a paid subscription to the service. This measure should help the platform in the fight against the countless army of bots, says company owner Elon Musk.

Such a fee is proposed to be paid by those who expect to publish information on X pages, like, respond to messages and share links. So far, the experiment has been launched for users in New Zealand and the Philippines, but if successful, it can be extended to the entire audience of Elon Musk’s social network. The program received the eloquent name Not A Bot.

The requirement to sign up for an annual subscription for $1 applies to new users in the specified regions; this experiment will not affect existing users. Apparently, X’s management expects that a nominal fee for the opportunity to share information from the pages of this social network is intended to increase the company’s chances in the fight against bots and spam distributors. Even those users who have not registered or subscribed will be able to read messages and view information on X pages.

A post on the company’s social media blog states that the pilot subscription is called “Not a Bot” and is already working in two countries.  This innovation will not affect users previously registered on the platform, the company assured.
