US Rgulators Check Elon Musk’s “Glass House”

The Manhattan federal prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the possible use of Tesla funds to implement a secret project to build a glass building, which people associated with the project call the home of Elon Musk. As it became known to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) from informed sources, the prosecutor’s office made inquiries about what funds were spent by Tesla on the construction of this building, what payments Elon Musk received, what is the purpose of the project as a whole. Similar requests were made by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which launched its own investigation into this project.

Back in July, members of the Tesla board of directors, as the newspaper recalls, had questions for Elon Musk, who allegedly was the ultimate beneficiary of the implementation of the so-called “Project 42” – a secret project to build a fairly large building near Tesla’s headquarters in Texas, providing space  for permanent residence. According to the information available to the investigating authorities, Tesla employees were involved in the construction of this building with an unspecified purpose, and company funds could be spent on its construction.

The activity of this group of Tesla employees surfaced when it became known about the company’s intentions to spend millions of dollars on the purchase of special glass used in the construction of the building. Whether this type of building material was eventually purchased is not specified, but US law requires companies to report to regulators situations in which individuals associated with them, including management, receive personal benefits in excess of $120,000.
