Starship Rocket From SpaceX Will Deliver A Unique Lunar Rover To The Moon

SpaceX has signed the first contract to deliver cargo to the moon using the latest rocket.

The American company Astrolab has successfully tested its lunar rover called FLEX in terrestrial conditions. Now he will go to the moon in the near future. This unique lunar rover is supposed to be delivered to the moon by the latest rocket from SpaceX called Starship. Although the latter has not yet made a single launch into space

Astrolab said it has agreed to fly the FLEX lunar rover it is developing as a payload on a Starship lunar lander mission scheduled for mid-2026. The companies did not disclose the value of the deal, which Astrolab says is the first commercial contract SpaceX has signed to deliver cargo to the moon.

The company unveiled its FLEX plans a year ago after testing a prototype in the California desert. The design is now roughly in the pre-flight stage, Matthews said, with a focus on a robotic arm for the rover that has six degrees of freedom to accommodate tools or other payloads.

Astrolab did not disclose specific mission clients, but it said they have a number of programs planned, from resource utilization to data collection. “We take care of the core functions of mobility, navigation, communications and power, and this allows them to focus on what they specifically want to achieve,” he said, adding that Astrolab expects to announce details about its customers soon.
